Beginner Group Piano Course
Welcome to Primer! A group piano course designed for beginner children ages 6-9.
Course Description
Once a week, students meet up for 1 hour of group learning for 12 weeks. Group sizes vary from 3-5 students and each child has their own piano. Class time is spent on reviewing homework assignments, learning new lessons, playing review games and assigning new homework.
In addition, once every 2-3 weeks, students meet up one-on-one with the teacher for a 20 minute "Focus" lesson.
A comprehensive exam will be administered at the end of the 12 weeks that will determine if the child can graduate to the next level.
There are 4 primer levels: Primer A, Primer B, Primer C & Primer D. Scroll down for more information!
Please register for the correct level. If you are registering a new student, choose Primer A.
So, how does a group class work?
Before each semester, you'll get a chance to meet with the teacher and get prepped for the upcoming level. For the next 12 weeks, you'll come in every week for 1 hour of group lessons.
These typically look like each student sitting at their individual piano with plenty of time away and off the bench, playing games around the room or learning the daily lesson on the colorful rug. Often individual time is given to practice a concept just taught through their piano headphones while the teacher attends to any who might need additional help.
Homework is assigned weekly and practice is mandatory. Students keep track of practice and are rewarded weekly.
Four times through-out the semester, students meet with the teacher for 20-min private sessions to help focus on any individual needs. These "Focus Lessons" are a great time for parents to join in on the learning process as well. The last day of class is devoted to the final exam and party. Students must receive a passing grade on the final exam to pass onto the next level.
That's it! A great blend of independent work and group learning. Kids have so much fun playing together and friendly companionship helps encourage consistent practice while still keeping it educational.

Primer Premier
Trial Run for Primer Classes
So you're interested in the Primers but want to try it out first? Premier is perfect for just that! 3 classes that go through the first few lessons of Primer A to give you a feel for how this would work. These classes aren't offered often so sign up when you can and join in on the fun!

Primer A
Main Piano Course
Welcome to the first level of the Primer course! Here we start our great journey with the very basics, aided, of course, with fun games, instruments and even a story of our wonderful solfege notes. Let's begin learning the piano!

Additional Summer Parties
